Setting up a Dedicated Server2019-11-05T10:54:29+00:00

This guide is meant for a fresh install of Windows server 2008 R2 or higher.

If you are a full time student, you can get a Windows server key from https://www.dreamspark.com/

Server requirements are as of yet unknown, But it works fine on a OVH Kimsufi 2G [1] which has 2gb ram and an intel atom.

This Guide also assumes this is a remote server.

Step 1: After a fresh install of windows server login using the Windows Remote Desktop Connection.

Step 2: Once logged in, Open the browser on the server and visit http://www.microsoft.com/web/downloads/platform.aspx Then download and Install the Web Platform Installer.

Step 3: Open WPI then click application and search for Microsoft .NET Framework, Then click install on all the items in the list that start with “Microsoft .NET Framework” then accept the terms and conditions and leave to install.

Step 4: Go make something to eat, That last step will take a while.

Step 5: Once Complete go download and install GTK# for windows ( http://download.mono-project.com/gtk-sharp/gtk-sharp-2.12.10.win32.msi )

Step 6: Download the EoS Launcher from ArkDrop then leave it to download and install the game.

Step 7: Close the launcher then open the EdgeOfSpace Program files folder.

Step 8: Create a .bat (batch) file and edit it with the line EdgeOfSpace.exe -batchmode -worldName=WORLDNAME Simply replace “WORLDNAME” with your server’s name.

Step 9: Save the file then double click it, A windows console should open and then the EoS Console.

Assuming you already have ports forwarded and firewall open, That should now work publicly.
